How did you two meet?

With a plus one to my Uncle’s wedding on Waiheke Island I asked my sister and her boyfriend at the time to set me up on a blind date. I met Aidan on the day of the wedding and we hit it off, I even caught the bouquet with him cheering me on, it was meant to be! Three years later he proposed at Milford Sound and almost 4 years to the day we met, we were married in the beautiful Russell, nestled amongst my bouquet were the crystal pins from the bouquet I caught the day we first met.

How was the wedding planning experience?

With the Duke booked for our reception we arranged everything around this beautiful venue. With the Duke’s wedding coordinator, planning was a breeze. She shared a genuine excitement for our upcoming nuptials and made for such a positive planning experience.

What drew you to choose the Duke as your wedding destination?

We decided pretty quickly that the Duke was the perfect place to hold our reception. We had both spent a lot of time in Northland and had admired the Duke for many years. We loved the modest elegance of the building, decor and atmosphere. The idea of having a destination wedding where our guests could enjoy a weekend away appealed to us as well, with 125 guests we filled the town with our nearest and dearest.

How was your wedding day at The Duke?

It was absolute perfection, we couldn’t fault it. Our friends and family still talk about the amazing food to this day. We were so impressed with the variety of courses available, the consistency and the timely manner in which they were served. There was also an extensive wine list which included both local and international wines.
